Jeannette is 18 years old and in her second year of lower secondary school in Rwanda. Jeannette lives with her seven brothers and four sisters in the Gashora sector, an impoverished area of Rwanda which was hit hard by the genocide.
Because the Rwandan schooling system recently switched to English-based classes, students need to improve their English skills in order to succeed academically. English skills are also critical in order to succeed on the national exam, which determines entrance into upper secondary school. Few students from Gashora have the opportunity to move to upper secondary school. But thanks to your donation, Jeannette is attending intensive English classes!
In her free time, Jeannette likes to play football – she also loves to eat sweet potatoes! Thank you for your support. Jeannette will now have the English skills that she needs to succeed in school and in life!
