Diane is 15 years old and in her first year of lower secondary school in Rwanda. Diane lives with her two brothers and one sister in the Gashora sector. It is an impoverished area of Rwanda which was hit hard by the genocide.
Because the Rwandan schooling system recently switched to English-based classes, students need to improve their English skills in order to succeed academically. English skills are also critical in order to succeed on the national exam, which determines entrance into upper secondary school. Few students from Gashora have the opportunity to move to upper secondary school. But thanks to your donation, Diane is attending intensive English classes on Saturdays and Sundays this fall!
In her free time Diane likes to play football (soccer). Her favorite subject in school is English and she loves coming to class to practice speaking and writing. She is working hard towards her goal of becoming a doctor someday! Thank you, Alice, for your support. Diane will now have the English skills that she needs to succeed in school and in life!
