Deny is 13 years old and is in her first year of lower secondary school in Rwanda. Deny lives with her two brothers and three sisters in the Gashora sector. It is an impoverished area of Rwanda which was hit hard by the genocide.
Because the Rwandan schooling system recently switched to English-based classes, students need to improve their English skills in order to succeed academically. English skills are also critical in order to succeed on the national exam, which determines entrance into upper secondary school. Few students from Gashora have the opportunity to move to upper secondary school. But thanks to your donation, Deny is attending intensive English classes on Saturdays and Sundays this fall!
English is Deny’s favorite subject in school and she works hard to be an English teacher someday! In her free time Deny likes to play football.
Thank you, Sterling and Melinda, for your support. Deny will now have the English skills that she needs to succeed in school and in life!
