Agnes lives with her brother and two sisters in the Gashora sector, an impoverished area of Rwanda which was hit hard by the genocide. Agnes is 17 years old and in her first year of lower secondary school in Rwanda.
Because the Rwandan schooling system has recently switched to English-based classes, students must improve their English skills in order to succeed academically. Few students from Gashora have the opportunity to move on to upper secondary school. English skills are critical in order to succeed on the national exam, which determines entrance into upper secondary school. Thanks to your donation, Agnes is attending intensive English classes on Saturdays and Sundays this fall!
Agnes likes to play soccer in her free time. Her favorite subject in school is English, and she is eager to continue on in her secondary schooling. Erik, thanks to your support, she will learn important skills that are needed to succeed in school and in life!
