Clarisse is 18 years old and in her second year of lower secondary school in Rwanda. Clarisse lives with her two brothers and four sisters in the Gashora sector, an impoverished area of Rwanda which was hit hard by the genocide.
Because the Rwandan schooling system has recently switched to English-based classes, students must improve their English skills in order to succeed academically. Few students from Gashora have the opportunity to move on to upper secondary school. English skills are critical in order to succeed on the national exam, which determines entrance into upper secondary school. Thanks to your donation, Clarisse is attending intensive English classes on Saturdays and Sundays this fall!
In her free time Clarisse likes to pray, study, eat, and talk with her friends. Her favorite subject in school is English, and she hopes to one day be a journalist. Claire, thanks to your support, she will have the English skills that she needs to succeed in school and in life!
