Jeanette Likes to Study English!

Jeanette
Dear Channing,

Thanks to your donation, Jeanette is attending intensive English classes on Saturdays and Sundays this fall. Jeanette is 16 years old and in her first year of lower secondary school in Rwanda.

Because the Rwandan schooling system has recently switched to English-based classes, students must improve their English skills in order to succeed academically. Jeanette is from the Gashora sector – an impoverished area of Rwanda which was hit hard by the genocide. She has four brothers and four sisters. Few students from Gashora have the opportunity to move on to upper secondary school. English skills are critical in order to succeed on the national exam, which determines entrance into upper secondary school.

In her free time, Jeanette likes to study.  Her favorite subject in school is English, and she hopes to one day have a job that allows her to drive a car.  Thanks to your support, she will have the English skills that she needs to succeed in school and in life. Thank you Channing!
