Joselyne is learning English!

Thanks to your donation, Joselyne is attending intensive English classes on Saturdays and Sundays this fall. Joselyne is 16 years old and in her second year of lower secondary school in Rwanda.

Because the Rwandan schooling system has recently switched to English-based classes, students must improve their English skills in order to succeed academically.  Joselyne is from the Gashora sector – an impoverished area of Rwanda which was hit hard by the genocide. She has two brothers and three sisters. Few students from Gashora have the opportunity to move on to upper secondary school. English skills are critical in order to succeed on the national exam, which determines entrance into upper secondary school.

In her free time, Joselyne likes to play sports. Her favorite subject in school is English, and she enjoys learning the meaning of new words.  She hopes to be a nurse one day, so she works hard in her studies. Thanks to your support, she will have the English skills that she needs to succeed in school and in life!
