Thanks for helping Bernadette to improve her English skills. Bernadette is attending intensive English classes on Saturdays and Sundays this fall. She is in her first year of lower secondary school in Rwanda. Bernadette aspires to become a doctor when she finishes her schooling, so she is studying hard! She enjoys reading, speaking, and writing English during class.
Bernadette is from the Gashora sector – an impoverished area of Rwanda which was hit hard by the genocide. Few students from Gashora have the opportunity to move on to upper secondary school. In her free time, she likes to play dance!
Because the Rwandan schooling system has recently switched to English-based classes, she must catch up in her English skills in order to succeed in her academics and career. In two years, she will take the English-based national exam which determines her entrance into upper secondary school.
Thanks Margo, for helping Bernadette with her English!
