Cynthia is a charismatic and fun girl who loves to learn!  She is from the Western province of Rwanda.  She dreams of one day attending a University where she can learn about medicine in hopes of becoming a doctor.  Her favorite club is Community Service where she is given the opportunity to help those in need in the Gashora community.  She is optimistic that provided she has the opportunity to continue in school, she will achieve all her goals.

Viviane Dreams of Becoming a Doctor

Dear Priti, Lisa, Fiona, Taryn, and Marta,

Viviane is a bright student from the Gashora District of Rwanda. She lives just minutes from the campus of Gashora Girls Academy of Science and Technology, a school run by Rwanda Girls Initiative. Her favorite subjects in school are Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology.  She dreams of one day becoming a doctor so that she can provide for her younger siblings and widowed mother as well as for her community.

Viviane has a big heart and is sure to achieve her dreams, provided she is given the opportunities.  Thank you Priti, Lisa, Fiona, Taryn, and Marta for helping protect Viviane by purchasing a mosquito net for her and 23 others. Nadia dreams of becoming a teacher

Nadia is a second year student at Gashora Girls Academy of Science and Technology in Rwanda. She has high hopes of one day attending a university in the U.S. or U.K. because she feels that it will give her the necessary education to one day become a teacher in her beloved country of Rwanda.

Thank you all for supporting the Rwanda Girls Initiative (RGI) and Denyse! In Rwanda, 97% of girls go to primary school, but less than 13% attend upper-secondary school. RGI established and operates the Gashora Girls Academy of Science and Technology, which transforms the brightest young girls to be leaders for tomorrow. A boarding school for 270 girls, the academy will graduate exemplary young woman who will be well prepared to succeed in their advanced studies and in their future vocations and who will contribute in important ways to the growth of their communities and their nation.

Denyse just began her senior year at Gashora Girls Academy. She is working harder than ever and is focused on reading textbooks that will improve her English and prepare her for the upcoming national exam. She hopes to score highly on the national exam as she would like to study pharmacy engineering in University. She continues to enjoy playing soccer, is participating in Kiswahili Club and is a good friend to her fellow students. Thank you for making Denyse’s dreams come true by providing her with a year-long scholarship. Your contributions cover a year of expenses at the school, including the cost of uniforms, a mosquito net for the recipient’s bed, meals, healthcare, and tuition. Sumaya appreciates the new school uniform!

Dear Craigand Microsoft,

The word Sumaya means powerful in Arabic and this smart young woman lives up to the meaning of her name!  She enjoys studying and during her breaks from school helps her dad in her family’s sole making business to help cover her school fees.  She works hard in the hopes of one day receiving a college scholarship so that her school fees aren’t a burden to her family and siblings to follow.  She hopes to one day be an entrepreneur here in Rwanda to help her family and others who are less fortunate.  She enjoys chess and yoga and when asked about what she appreciates about the Gashora Girls academy, she reported that she is grateful for the courage this education has given her.  Thank you, Employees of Microsoft and Craig, for coming together to help Sumaya achieve her dreams!

Souzanne feels that education is key!

Souzanne is an amazing young woman with a sense of faith that is inspiring to those around her. Her favorite subjects are Biology and Mathematics and she is currently thriving in both areas. Joyce is a beautiful girl with a kind and radiant spirit! Joyce has high hopes of playing a pivotal role in the transformation of her country, Rwanda. As an orphan of the genocide, she has relied on the kindness of people who have helped her live a healthy life and she hopes to one day give back the gifts that have been given to her by working for her country as a doctor. Joyce loves her life at Gashora Girls Academy and is thankful to God for the grace and love that he has blessed her with throughout her life.

Peace is destined for success!

Peace is a confident young woman who humbly knows that she is destined for big things in the future. Her favorite subjects are physics and mathematics because she hopes to one day become an engineer.

Peace works hard in her studies, but in her free time finds a balance by playing volleyball and spending time with her friends.
